The Marlins rocked Orioles Pitcher Miguel Gonzalez for four runs on ten hits and the Orioles starter could not recover as the Marlins take 2 out of 3 from Baltimore in Miami.
Martin Prado homers (#3) and drove in two, Marcel Ozuna had three hits, including a 2-run single and Christian Yelich goes 2-4 with a RBI. The Orioles bats were silenced, they scored just two runs, a night after going 13 innings & being shutout, and going 1-10 with runners in scoring position. They left the bases loaded twice in the 8th and 9th innings while having only scored twice in the last 23 innings. Miami starter Tom Koehler goes 6 1/3 innings while allowing one run on just three hits, walked four and struck out three. David Lough was the only Oriole with two hits, Everth Cabrera goes 1-2 with two walks. The Orioles are going through a rough time, nothing seems to be working out for the bats or arms. If they score runs, the pitching gives up more than they score, if the pitching does well then the bats don’t wind up generating enough runs, something needs to be fixed. The Orioles lose 2 out of 3 to Miami and they head home dejected as they try to figure out what has happened to their offense. The Orioles’s will play Houston for a 3 game series starting Memorial Day in Charm City. It is time to right the ship & start winning some series’ because although it’s still early, the Orioles need a shot in the arm and need to make up some ground in the still competitive AL East.
